BWA Awangarda

Measuring in at a whopping 1000m squared, Awangarda is the biggest of the BWA galleries, a triumvirate of spaces dedicated to contemporary art (the other three being the Glass and Ceramics Gallery, Studio BWA and the Design Gallery). It is housed in the old Hatzfeld Palace, which was virtually destroyed in World War II and has since been maintained as a "living ruin", adapted to present contemporary art. The Awangarda's mission statement is to comments upon current realities via the art it displays - and it doesn't pull any punches! Up to fifty events will take place in the gallery in the course of a calendar year: not only exhibitions but also workshops, performance events, graduation diploma presentations, exhibitions and film shows.
