Restaurant Pastelowa

Pastelowa may sound like the name of a swanky Italian restaurant, but in Polish it simple means 'pastel', so don't expect Carbonara for supper! In fact this modern, brightly-decorated eaterie serves traditional and contemporary Polish food, and in portions large enough to fuel your body through the entire bitter artic winter. There are over a hundred dishes to choose from and yet despite this you will have trouble finding one that will burn a hole in your pocket. If you're hungry and on a budget this is definitely the place for you! Friendly staff help contribute to a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

"The place came recommended for its crepes, so we popped in for brunch. Menus were in Polish only. We asked for a general idea of ingredients, and my husband chose a crepe with spinach and egg while I settled for cream cheese and cherries. The egg was served fried and placed on top of the stuffed crepe, and unfortunately was quite obviously undercooked. Overall though, the crepe was nice enough. In mine, the cherries must have been from a can. They were pure sugar. The crepe would have been very nice anyway, but it was smothered in chocolate sauce (nobody warned me about it) that overpowered any other flavours. Still, a very cheap eat, and the staff were nice (though there was a brawl going on in the kitchen)."

"found this place online before we came and we decided to try it. actually, the service was not at all austere, the prices are low and the food is hearty and tasty. we recommend this gaff wholeheartedly, especially the beetroot soup with dumplings!"

"There is no need to stay for your supper in the Rynek. You will pay more only for it's location whilist just outside you will find a few descent places. Pastelowa is one of them! JUST behind the corner - follow the Ruska street!"

"Very tasty casserole dishes reminded me of good old USA home cooking. The interior decor is cheerful, and the place is kept clean. Service was friendly and fast."
