Not only was it great news for Poland and Ukraine when it was announced that their joint bid had won the right to host Euro 2012, but also it was a great boost for Wroclaw as it is to become one of the host cities. Group matches are to be played in Wroclaw's own Olympic stadium, which will be refurbished in time for the big event. Krakow and Chorzow have been given the unenviable the task of being standby cities in case of any problems with any of the host cities.

Wroclaw celebrated in style as three hundred children formed the number 2012 in order to commemorate the momentus day. Even mayor Rafal Dutkiewicz joined in the celebrations by throwing footballs around with the partying crowd.
