The Wroclaw Life team don't often go to bed early on a Saturday night, but even they couldn't keep up with the hosts of enthusiastic Poles who celebrating their victory over Belgium with a very long night on the vodka.
Poland earned a 2-0 victory over the visitors to ensure their safe passage through to the Euro 2008 Football Championships with a game in hand. Despite qualifying for the World Cup on numerous occasions this 40 million strong nation has never qualified for the Euros before and the sense of history in the making was tangible for Polish fans of the beautiful game.
Man of the moment was Euzebiusz Smolarek whose quick reactions and reading of the game earned him two relatively simply goals, after a defensive and then a goalkeeping error on the 44 and 49th minute against a Belgian team that struggled to impose themselves on the match.
Celtic goalkeeper Boruc also made a telling contribution on the 34th minute, making a finger-dip save after Vertonghen was given all the time in the world to shoot by a disorganised Polish defence.
With victory signed, sealed and delivered by the referee's final whistle the celebrations began in earnest and after Wroclaw's bars had been drunk dry a large crowd gathered on the Rynek for a sing song which was still in full flow at 5am...
