Great news for culture cats coming to the capital of Lower Silesia, a whole new bastion of the arts has just opened up its new centre for exploration.
The WRO Foundation Media Art Center was founded in 1989, becoming the only independent organization in Poland specialising in contemporary art, media and technology. The Foundation made a name for itself in the years that followed with its biennial exhibition which toured the country and beyond.
Now there good work is being rewarded by the very soon to be opened Wro Art Center (Centrum Sztuki WRO) on ulica Widok, the construction of which may have annoyed a few neighbours but was surely worth it. Apart from being an architectural good-looker, the Wro Art Center will do much to promote exceptional art in Wroclaw and in Poland, and provide an 'interactive place of fun' for adults and children.
The grand opening on the 29th February (yes, 2008 is a leap year!) will be accompanied by multi-media exhibitions and animated films for youngsters.
