Any Monkey Can Work in Tourism...
Well we at the Wroclaw Life editorial office have known it for a while. Despite our distinct lack of talent and social graces even we managed to find work in the tourist industry... but when we heard that literally any old monkey can find employment in the field, we have to confess we were a little taken back!
Yes, it appears that Bobby the chimpanzee has entered the payroll at Radkow Town Council as a Tourism Promotions Inspector. The seventeen year old ape has been drafted in to plug the unique attractions of the Table Mountains in the South West of Poland on the Czech border. With its plateaus and fascinating rock formations the Table Mountains are one of the most beautiful regions in the country, with the so-called "Monkey Rock" being one of the more distinctive examples of the latter.
Bobby's duties so far have mainly included touring various cities and towns, including the region's capital Wroclaw, with a sign on his back advertising the Table Mountains range. He is remunerated with the rather unenviable salary of 70 Euros per month, although apparently that is enough to keep him in bananas. Meanwhile his boss has 'incentivised' him with the prospect of a higher salary.
"If Bobby achieves good results he may be promoted to a post as a specialist. Then he'll be able to count on a pay rise," said council official Marek Niewiadomy.
