The extreme right League of Polish Families has spoken out against the concert of Boston Gay Men’s Chorus in the south-western city of Wroclaw. The BGMC is one of the largest gay choirs in the USA and will be performing in the Wroclaw Philharmony on Monday - the first openly gay organization to perform in Poland. They are expected to present a selection of songs from musicals, especially those composed by George Gershwin.
The representatives of League of Polish Families however are not as thrilled as most by this historic concert, stating that they oppose “any actions which promote deviation, pathologies and behaviour which results from mental instability, which attack the values which must be protected in a healthy society.” It is not sure if they intend to organise any protests on Monday.
The concert is due to take place on, June 27, Philharmonic Hall, at 7pm. The First Lady of Poland, Jolanta Kwasniewska, is expected to attend and proceeds from the event will benefit MONAR, an HIV/AIDS organization. |
