A Stinky Issue
Wroclaw has got a bit of a smelly problem. Until recently, the idea of collecting your pets' poop while on a walk was unheard of in Poland. And while times have certainly changed, freeing us from dodging dung on a daily basis, the issue far from being completely resolved.
Many of Wroclaw's parks are simply littered with the stuff. Some of the few greens in the city that are not already off-limits for us humans, are often covered with brown mines turning a sunny day with a Frisbee into a hunt for a sanitizing puddle or leaf.
Recently, some specialized pet waste bins have showed up around the city's green spaces. But the problems have continued. Some simply refuse to use the bins, while other bins fill up with regular rubbish rendering them unusable for pet owners. Most pressing however, is that there are simply not enough bins.
In the city of Wroclaw, unlike many other cities in Poland such as Warsaw, disposing of your pet's waste in a regular garbage bin is illegal. Authorities state that this regulation is a health issue, and they simply wish to avoid the bins filling up with unwrapped poo.
However, the fact remains that well-meaning pet owners in Wroclaw are left with little choice when faced with a full pet waste bin, if they can even find one. So when it comes to disposing of your pet's poop, a stealthy hand may be required, at least for now.
