Hybrid Hits the Streets
The city of Wroclaw is continuing on its path towards promoting a greener city with the purchase of a hybrid bus. The city plans on eventually purchasing 2 such buses for its municipal public transportation service, but will first go through a testing process.
Hybrid buses are certainly a cleaner, greener alternative to their traditional counterparts, producing significantly lower emissions. They are also typically cheaper to tank up, using twenty to thirty percent less gas, though their prices are nearly 50% higher than typical buses. Hybrids can also often be expensive to maintain.
Currently, the hybrid bus is running the 142 line from Plac Danilowskiego to Nowy Dwor. This environmentally-friendly move will make Wroclaw the second city in Poland, after Poznan, with a hybrid bus.
