Tall Order for Wroclaw Zoo
Wroclaw's newest, and tallest resident has arrived from Copenhagen recently. A young male giraffe has joined the other animals at the Wroclaw Zoo, kicking off the giraffe care and breeding program. He will soon be joined by a few more giraffe friends arriving from zoos in Germany.
A beautiful creature, this particular type of giraffe originates in Kenya and parts of Tanzania. The Wroclaw giraffe has already made a reputation for himself as being a calm, relaxed animal with a particular love for bananas.
There's just one thing missing - a name! The Wroclaw Zoo is holding a competition for naming the new giraffe, and there are a few guidelines to follow. Tradition dictates that a name in Swahili, or a name somehow referring to the geography of Africa would be ideal. But the Zoo is open to all ideas, though they do stress that a human name is not appropriate.
Submissions will be accepted until August 9 at lutra@zoo.wroc.pl. The winner will receive a pass to the zoo, allowing for free entrance for one year. Good luck!
