Throughout its tumultuous history, Wroclaw has managed to produce and somehow retain (or skillfully rebuild) a startling amount of beautiful historic architecture. It may be no cathedral or towering government building, but the viaduct on ul. Swidnicka is still a great example of practical pre-war construction. However, over the years it has begun to fade and crumble, prompting the city of Wroclaw to renovate this charming, unique structure.
Other historic viaducts have been previously renewed in the 60s and 70s, though their pre-war architectural touches such as pinnacles and small spires were not much admired and therefore destroyed. However, the viaduct currently in renovation will retain its historic touches. New balustrades will also be added.
The viaduct's renewal is part of a general renovation of rail roads and embankments in this area of the city.
