Wroclaw Student Meets Slacklining World Record
Wroclawian student Jan Galek has reached a world record in highline walking 67 metres in full man (both up and down the line). Highline is a type of slacklining, which itself is similar to tightrope walking. In tightrope walking the rope is taught and thin, but in slacklining, the line that is stretched across two points is slack and elastic, and measures 1 inch across (2.5cm). Highline is simply slacklining at high points, though the length that is walked is more important than the height at which it is made.
On a recent trip to the United States, the 21 year old intended to break the world record in the Joshua Tree National Park. However, before his arrival fellow slackliner American Jerry Miszewski broke the record at 67 metres which Galek was then only able to meet.
