Review of Stage Songs Set to Kick Off in Wroclaw
Now in its 31st edition, the Przeglad Piosenki Aktorskiej is a performing arts festival taking place in Wroclaw every spring. Literally translated as the Review of Actor's Songs, but better known in English as the Review of Stage Songs, the festival brings together Polish and international talent to explore the art of performing through song. Cabaret, acting, and more traditional musical performances all play a role in this 8-day long festival based in the Capitol music theatre.
The festival begins 20 March with a performance by a member of American band Dresden Dolls, the inimitable Amanda Palmer. Another highlight of the festival is a performance entitled "Along the Borderline: A Tribute to Nico" - former Velvet Underground member John Cale will be joined by a host of talented musicians for a night of reinterpreting the music of the tragic hero Nico. For this performance John Cale and his band will be joined by Mark Lanegan of the Gutter Twins and Queens of the Stone Age, Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance, Laetitia Sadler of Stereolab, Nick Franglen of Lemon Jelly, Soap & Skin, and the Capitol string quartet.
The Review of Stage Songs offers over a week of challenging performances from 20 to 28 March- drop by their website here for full details in English. Tickets are available to purchase at the Capital Music Theatre box office, located at ul. Piłsudskiego 72 or online at bileteria.pl.
