Recognition for Renoma Architecture
One of Wroclaw's most stunning buildings is the modernist marvel that is Renoma - a department store and shopping centre in the heart of the city. Built in 1930 as the Wertheim store by the German firm of the same name, the building has lived through a turbulent history of bombings and reconstructions. The latest extensions and renovations were completed in 2009 by the Meckow Pracownia Projectowa firm.
It is the work by these architects which has been recognized in Barcelona at the World Architecture Festival. The work has been shortlisted in the "New and Old" category along with 15 other projects from across the globe.
Final prizes will be awarded at the 2010 Barcelona World Architecture Festival on 5 November.
