Krakow's Jazz Autumn Begins

Respected by its peers and popular with jazz lovers from within its city borders and beyond, Krakow's Jazz Autumn festival kicks off this week in southern Poland. Now in its fifth edition, this year's festival will feature performances by contemporary jazz greats in the medieval city's most atmospheric joints - Alchemia in the former Jewish district of Kazimierz, and Fabryka, a post-industrial space in the Podgorze area.

The inaugural concert on 17 September will feature the experimental free jazz sounds of Full Blast, a trio led by Peter Brotzmann. Following the performance, which will take place at the aforementioned Fabryka club, DJs Mr. Krime and Daniel Drumz will keep the party going late into the night.

The Jazz autumn will continue through until the end of November, and will include appearances by Pierre Favre and Samuel Blaser, Barry Guy New Orchestra, Ken Vandermark, Dead Capo, and more.
