Bavaria sues Polish Hitler book publisher

The German state of Bavaria, which owns Adolf Hitler's autobiography Mein Kampf, has stopped its publication in Wroclaw, Poland.

When a Wroclaw publisher printed the book in February, Bavaria took legal action against the publication in a Wroclaw district court, the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported Wednesday.

Bavaria owns the rights to the book, which Nazi leader Hitler wrote during his prison term in Landsberg/Lech, Bavaria. Because of its right-wing extremist content, it is illegal in Germany. It remains legally published in many other countries, however.

The office of the district attorney in the fourth largest Polish city has confiscated the books, the newspaper said.
