LG Philips eyes Poland
LG Philips LCD, the joint venture of LG Electronics and Royal Philips Electronics, is reportedly planning to invest 1 billion euros on building two factories in Poland to make flat screens. An article on the stockmarket newspaper Parkiet said both sites will be at Kobierzyce, near Wroclaw, in the south west of the country. They will employ 12,000 people.
The report follows a comment by deputy Polish economy minister Marcin Kaszuba at the beginning of this week that early September would see the announcement of the largest investment ever in democratic Poland, though he did not even say which sector it would be in.
Parkiet said a government delegation will leave for South Korea tomorrow, to meet LG Philips LCD officials.
