Toyota invests in Wroclaw
Toyota Motor Industries Poland, a subsidiary of international car maker Toyota, has held an official inauguration ceremony at its new diesel engine plant in Jelcz-Laskowice, 25 kilometers southeast of Poland's fourth-largest city of Wroclaw.
The new ceremony marks the recently initiated production of the new, 2.2-liter diesel engine at the plant by Toyota Motor Industries Poland (TMIP). The event marked the first time the public and the media were able to visit the facility.
TMIP, in which a total of E200 million has been invested, has an annual production capacity of 180,000 units. Its diesel engines are installed in the Avensis produced in the UK and the Corolla Verso produced at Toyota's assembly facility in Turkey.
Going forward, Toyota plans to create around 230 jobs next year in preparation for the initiation of diesel engine production for the Corolla sedan.
Toyota has a second operation in Poland, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland, which assembles gasoline engines and manual transmissions used in small passenger cars.
