A fatal spring storm took the lives of three people in the south-western city of Wroclaw. The storm came on the heels of a scorching heat wave where temperatures soared well over 30 Celsius.

For many residents from the southwestern city of Wroclaw, the violent storm that killed three people, while leaving many injured, looked like something straight out of a Hollywood Horror film.

Heavy rains and winds torn down high power lines and uprooted trees. Trams were engulfed by the heavy downpour that flooded many low lying regions in the Southwest. Most train services in the region were halted late Monday.

The sudden spring storm came on the heels of a weekend heat wave where temperatures soared well over 30 degrees Celsius.

Anna Ordak from the Warsaw Weather Bureau says that the storm was the result of a mass of cold air from the Atlantic.

Fire fighters in the area continue to work round the clock to clear debris. Despite warnings of high winds and heavy rain by Weather forecasters in the area, the storm still caught many by surprise.
