Definitely skip the beginner "sets" Michelle, they are almost always the cheapest crap. You have to pay a little extra for something sturdy that you wont' want to replace a couple of weeks after buying.

what would you recommend for a beginner? i want a sturdy set (2 decks, mixer) that is decent quality and won't fall apart in a month or two.

a few months ago i stopped in wroclaw for a dj gig on a tour around eastern europe. walked by this shop completely by accident and decided to check it out. a fair set up of equipment, really friendly folks. recommended.
