Constructed in 1892 in the Art Nouveau style that was about to sweep over Europe, the Monopol is a must for any visitor keen to immerse themselves in history. Not only can the hotel boast a fine architectural pedigree, but it has also put a roof over more than it's fair share of influential personages in its time - Marlene Dietrich, Pablo Picasso and Hitler all stayed here when Wroclaw was the powerful German town of Breslau. If you think that the fading exterior could do with a facelift then you won't find anything wrong with the interior. Ensuite rooms with satellite TVs, an impressive foyer, plus a sauna and small gym/aerobic club provide guests with plenty of comforts. Meanwhile the location, just a few mins from the Main Square, is very hard to beat.
