A little known fact about Wroclaw is that is has its own Olympic Stadium. Why? Because in the city's previous incarnation as the German town of Breslau it hosted several events for the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Today this green and pleasant quarter of town accommodates not just a stadium but also the appropriately-named Hotel Olimpia. A comfortable three-star choice, the Olimpia offers twenty rooms all with satellite TV, internet access and the all-important mini-bar. Out here on the Eastern border of the city you are well placed to discover delights such as Wroclaw Zoo, Szczytnicki Park and the Japanese Garden.
